Comprising ex-members of joyride!, Watercolor Paintings, Void Boys, and Dreamspoiler, among others, San Francisco quartet SOAR live up to their name, with a chiming guitar sound and soaring vocals. First heard on last year’s Wilt cassette, all the elements that caught the ear on tunes like “Picnic On The Beach” and “Shade” have been polished and toughened up for the band’s new LP dark/gold, due out August 25th on Father/Daughter Records, with vinyl to follow later in the year from Salinas Records.

First single “Fort Funston” sets the table, establishing their base sound’s new vigor, while follow-up release “Fatigue” garnered attention from NPR. Capitalizing on the new eyeballs, “Keeping A Record” shows off their darker side, sonically and lyrically, drawing on found journals to set up a layered, hypnotic journey. In the Bay Area, you can catch SOAR live at the flagship 1-2-3-4 Go! Records in Oakland on Tuesday, August 22nd with Try The Pie, The Bedrooms, and Kochina Rude.
