DITTIES FROM DOWN UNDER: Gold Fields

April 05. 2012 | By Asha Omelian

They may be from Australia, but members of pop-outfit Gold Fields don’t sing with an Australian accent. This void is made up for with a dreamy, tribal sound brought about by drum beats and rythmic vocals. Fans of Foster the People and FUN. would most likely be attracted to Gold Fields; these artists share a relatively similar sound. For a more unique and techno sound, we recommend “Moves.” “The Woods” is sure to be a crowd-pleaser; heavy drums open and close out the song and, at times, the vocals are reminscent of a melodic chant. Although similar to many American pop bands, the tribal sounds of Gold Fields bring a pleasant new element to the table.
