LIVE REVIEW: The Young Evils @ Constellation Room, Santa Ana 7/28/12

July 31. 2012 | By Samantha Saturday

Seattle-based rockers The Young Evils made their way down the Pacific coast this past week making a stop at Santa Ana’s Constellation Room. Even with the sparsest crowd we’ve ever seen at a show (less than a dozen attendees), the group took to the stage and kicked off their set as if the room was packed. While most groups would be dismayed by such an empty room, lead singers Mackenzie Mercer and Troy Nelson anchored the band, full of energy and vigor.

Akin to pop-rockers like Ben Kweller and Free Energy, The Young Evils powered through a set of unabashedly fun jams including our favorites “Darker Blue Bayou” and “Get Over It.” Although they only played to a handful of people at the Constellation Room, the group had an optimistic outlook for future shows in the area. We, too, are sure that with future releases and their upcoming slot at Bumbershoot, The Young Evils will be catching the ears of the music loving public quickly.
