NO @ Troubadour, Los Angeles 4/4/13

April 09. 2013 | By Andre Cruz

There”s something very special when a band grows in front of its hometown fans; a sense of pride and admiration for a band you”ve

seen mature. So is the sentiment for Echo Park”s NO, and L.A. residents were in full attendance to support and sell-out NO”s first home show of 2013 at the Troubadour. James Supercave provided the night”s opening entertainment and their funky laced art rock jams got the crowd warmed up and anxiously awaiting the night”s headliners.

NO appeared on stage and before playing, lead singer Bradley Hanan Carter made his rounds hugging each member of the band. The Troubadour went quiet as NO began the night with the anthematic song “Stay With Me”. Controlling the crowd”s energy while slowly building anticipation that spilled out on the following song “What”s Your Name”. Those in attendance commenced to dance while singing every word. The band played so effortlessly, that one tends to forget that this is a relatively young band, who is surely destined for bigger things.

This continued with “Eleven Eleven” which had the band in awe at the crowd”s response with Bradley saying, “Seriously, tonight has been pretty incredible. We”re really stoked to see a lot of our Los Angeles friends here tonight.” He then proceeded to introduce the bands members and their origins before playing another new song called, “North Star”. The song starts off with Brad”s deep baritone vocals over moody keys that build slowly into an explosion like burst of crashing drums and frentic layer of sounds. Other songs included in their setlist were

“Another Life” and “Long Haul” off of their “Don”t Worry, You”ll Be Here Forever” EP. The band”s performance this evening was very impressive, with their music is only getting better and better. It”d be no surprise to us at The Owl Mag to see NO on everyone”s radar when their new album is released later this year.
