Datarock’s new EP surprisingly concludes with a trance remix of the title track “California” by Souldrop. The accompanying video recalls generations of decadent live performances, from ’80s hair metal to ’90s boy bands to ’00s ringtone rap (not to mention the artists who mock them mercilessly). Are fans of Norwegian disco punk ready to bust out fresh glow sticks and roll back into the rave tent? This clip answers in the affirmative. If the idea of crowd-surfing on an inflatable raft while half of the group prances about in their boxer briefs excites you, then what are you waiting for?
