PICTURE THIS: Unknown Mortal Orchestra + Foxygen + Wampire @ GAMH, SF 2/13/13

February 15. 2013 | By Chandler Elena

The sold-out show packed fans of not only the moody psych-rockers Unknown Mortal Orchestra, but also of emerging southern California stars Foxygen and Portland’s Wampire. After a bit of trouble with the amps early in the evening, the enthusiasm grew again to culminate in what must have been the highest-altitude crowd surf in the hall’s history by UMO singer and guitarist Ruban Nielson. Following the band’s one song encore, he confessed to the audience that the Great American Music Hall was his “favorite venue on the planet.” Judging by the energy throughout their fantastic, powerful set, one could understand why.
