PICTURE THIS: SIMS @ Brick & Mortar, 9/22/11

September 29. 2011 | By Mike

The Brick & Mortar (sister to Oaktown’s New Parish, I learned) is a nice, intimate space with great sound. Upgrades to the light system are in the works, but in the meantime, here are some snaps in the dark:

The night started strong with some playaz from TeamBackPack: Young Mar, Jedi, and the lovely Icy Lolita with some mad rhymes. They were followed by Telli Prego and Patience.

Then it was time for the Doomtree crew: Cecil Otter stepped up dropping some lyrical science.

SIMS closed it out, backed by beats from Lazerbeak, and singing songs from his new EP, Wildlife. Before this show I didn’t know a thing about any of these performers, but I came away impressed by their crazy beats and clever lyrics.
