It was a classic Saturday night at Bottom of the Hill, with two touring bands supporting local headliners Hungry Skinny. LA’s Mars & The Massacre kicked off the show with a swirly light show, melancholy psych, and some bleeding basset hound-headed mannequins in honor of their new single “Basset Case.” Melancholy turned to upbeat with The Lower 48 from Portland, who are on their album release tour for Hot Fool. Guitarist Sarah Parson’s Cranberries-esque vocals and Ben Braden’s 60s rock tunes got the crowd dancing in preparation for Hungry Skinny’s boisterous set.
