PICTURE THIS: M. Ward @ Fillmore, SF 4/11/12

April 13. 2012 | By Kelley Bennett

Claiming there was no other place he’d rather be to celebrate the release of his brand new album, M. Ward kicked off a nationwide tour at the Fillmore Wednesday evening. The feeling was mutual: new songs, as well as older favorites such as “Post-War” and the Monsters of Folk track “Whole Lotta Losin'” were warmly received by a full house of dancing (and sweaty) fans. A two-song encore began with Ward requesting that the Fillmore’s giant disco ball be lit up before closing out the night with a cover of Chuck Berry’s “Roll Over Beethoven.”
