It’s been seven years since Ryan Karazija’s old band Audrye Sessions ended. Low Roar began after Ryan moved to Iceland and he has just released the third album from the project: Once in a Long, Long While. This string of five dates on the west coast, all with Charlie Cunningham, wrapped up last night at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles. Local songstress Alaska Reid, of Alyeska, opened the show with a rare solo set. Her full band plays a residency at The Echo every Monday of October with Goon. London’s Charlie Cunningham played intricate flamenco-styled tunes that were at times mournful, or determined. Low Roar finished the night, showcasing Ryan’s ethereal voice over a mostly electronic wall of sound created by his bandmates David and Alton.
