With the wave of so-called pop-songwriters making there way into music-lovers minds and playlists at the moment (we’re think Lorde, Sky Ferreira, even a bit of Daughter) the time might just be write for talented New Yorker Nina Yasmineh.

“Ghosts”, the haunting elegant opening track of her latest EP, Finest Hour could easily have been a Lorde song – with the vocals of Birdy – and following track “Prophecy” draws on the dance-pop influence of Sweden’s Tove Lo. Title track “Finest Hour” isn’t quite as strong, but the eerie balance of keyboard and synth in “Collar Bone” draws you in for the stripped back hum of “Sanctuary, giving more of an opportunity to truly enjoy the soaring, breathy vocals.
