One of the great things about Noise Pop Fest is the different bands that get grouped together for a show. In this case, Miya Folick paired up with Japanese Breakfast at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco. Miya Folick was new to us and will move onto a lot of our playlists after this show. With songs like “God is a Woman” and “Pet Body,” Miya Folick is someone you should definitely check out.

Japanese Breakfast is the kind of band that is really hard to not dance to. The band mostly stuck to playing track of the 2016 release Psychopomp. They did throw in some new songs from an as yet unreleased new album. Singer Michelle Zauner did a solo version of “Triple 7” that just made our night. The surprise of the night was Jay Som, who appeared on stage and helped out with an awesome Cranberries cover. Look for new music from Japanese Breakfast later this year!
