Under subdued lighting Meshell Ndegeocello played the Great American Music Hall on Saturday. In an unconventional setup the drummer was on the left side of the stage facing Meshell at stage center.

Unconventional ended up being the mood for the night: an eclectic mix of new music from her new album Weather and some older songs kept the focus of the night on the music. At times Meshell Ndegeocello would step back from the mic and fade into the darkness, letting the music speak for the band. Don’t come to this show expecting a flashy rock event; expect to hear a group of excellent musicians play music that will engage your brain.
