“Hello, Los Angeles, we are the world famous Kaiser Chiefs… at least world famous in our own minds,” spouted frontman Ricky Wilson in his saucy drawl. It’s been quite a number of years since the Leeds’ lads have graced LA and we were lucky enough to be at the El Rey for their return. The quintet kept things heated as Wilson pogoed around the stage to songs including “Oh My God,” “I Predict a Riot,” “Never Miss A Beat,” and new tunes “Misery Company,” and “The Factory Gates” from their forthcoming album Education, Education, Education & War.
Hometown buzz band Avid Dancer brought a smooth opening to the show. The group, headed by Jacob Dillan Summers, has been on the tips of tongues quite frequently as of late. We highly suggest getting your ears and eyes on them now, so you’re not regretting it in a few months.
