TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 3/18/2021 Edition

March 18. 2021 | By Wayne Jessup

Kicking off this week close to home , Bay Area’s Sour Widows came to our attention in 2019 with an early single, then last year’s self-titled EP, and now, freshly signed to Exploding In Sound, they’re back with “Crossing Over”, the title track of their forthcoming EP, due out 4/23.

Yogyakarta, Indonesia-based trio Grrrl Gang follow up last year’s Here To Stay with a brand new single “Honey Baby” on Damnably that boasts a compelling sonic upgrade on the band’s signature sound. Don’t miss them live as part of the label showcase on this year’s virtual SXSW. Info available here.

Austin quintet Sun June is riding high with “Everything I Had”, from their latest LP Somewhere, a February release on Run For Cover Records. Finishing up this week by way of Sitka, Alaska, “Knives: Ft. Portugal The Man” introduces the artist Nicholas Galanin in his newest incarnation as Ya Steen. Indian Yard, his debut for Sub Pop, comes out 4/30.
