TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 5/16/19 Edition

May 18. 2019 | By Wayne Jessup

This time out on Tracks Of The Week, Dude York is back with “Falling”, the title track from their new LP, due out 7/26 on Hardly Art. Catch them on tour with the Frights, with upcoming dates including 5/22 Strummer’s, Fresno + 5/23 Fremont Theater, San Luis Obispo, and 5/24 the Catalyst, Santa Cruz. Tapping into a cryptic 90’s vibe, “Landscaper” is the new single from New Haven’s Hellrazor, a trio fronted by Michael Falcone (Speedy Ortiz), continuing a hot streak for LA-based New Professor Music.

Merge Records has never been shy about unleashing jangly goodness upon unsuspecting souls, and the UK’s Sacred Paws hold up their end on “The Conversation”, a prime taste of their upcoming LP Run Around The Sun, out 5/31 on Merge (North America), Rock Action (everywhere else). Regardless of genre, it’s been a banner year for assured, original voices, and New Orleans’ Esther Rose takes center stage with “Don’t Blame It On The Moon”, off her second LP You Made It This Far, coming up 7/12 on Father/Daughter. Closing out this week’s action is “Dogs”, from All Girls Arson Club’s addictive new EP Dark Fruits, out now on Sheffield-based Delicious Clam Records.
