THIS WEEKEND IN SF: 11/5-6

November 05. 2010 | By Lauren Nagel

You likely spent all of your money on the three-day/ongoing bender to celebrate the Giants’ epic win – no worries, we gotcha covered. Here are the top five Bay Area shows this weekend under $25.

FRIDAY, 11/5

Birds & Batteries / Maus Haus @ Oakland Uptown 9pm, no cover!

Rad Bay Area bands + First Friday art walk = kick-ass Oakland evening. If you haven’t checked B&B’s October release Panorama, doo eet. David Byrne meets John Lennon with a splash o’ grit – classic, relevant, and FREE.

Bear In Heaven /Lower Dens /Sun Airway @ The Independent 9pm, $12 adv/ $14 door

Brooklyn prog-rock trio Bear In Heaven believes that “you should be able to feel music, not just hear it.” That being said, we actually don’t hate this band. Impressive. Bring cotton balls – the new wave of Lower Dens and Sun Airways is gonna make your ears sweat too.

SATURDAY, 11/6

The Prince vs. Michael Experience @ Madrone Art Bar, 6pm / $5 after 8pm

DJs Dave Paul and Jeff Harris celebrate eight years of getting nasty with hits, mixes, and b-sides from the two best pop artists of all time. In short, this event is as awesome as you think it is (hella).

Thee Oh Sees / Bare Wires / Mister Loveless @ Oakland Uptown, 9pm $12

This line-up is the trifecta of Bay Area garage rock, dudes. The night promises to get progressively more distorted, alongside your judgment. Cheers.

Mustache Harbor / Sean Tabor / Justin Ancheta @ Red Devil Lounge, 8pm $10

From Mustache Harbor’s website: “Our mission, our destiny, is simple, to build a mustache army capable of creating a Soft Rock Explosion.” ‘Nuff said.
