Yeasayer released their fifth album “Erotic Reruns” to great excitement earlier this month, and embarked on a US tour. They arrived in Los Angeles on Saturday for a wild night at the Teragram Ballroom.

The setlist focused largely on the new album, with older songs speckled in, including a rousing finale of “Ambling Alp,” during which frontman Chris Keating tied up bassist Ira Wolf Tuton in his microphone cable. Keating also ran around the stage like a madman, borrowing fans’ cellphones for selfies, while trading singing responsibilities between himself and guitarist Anand Wilder.
Theirs was the best performance I have seen in years, and the rest of the audience was equally thrilled.

LA’s Steady Holiday opened the show as a gentle warmup to Yeasayer’s whirlwind. The band features Dre Babinski’s light soprano vocals, groovy bass lines, and a keyboard setup on a surfboard.
