If you haven’t heard about the Muppets movie coming out in November, then clearly you need to crawl out from under your rock more often. I admit that I may not have been as enthusiastic about this movie as some people are, but then I got a taste of the soundtrack. OK Go contributes a remarkable and genius rendition of the theme song. Weezer and Paramore’s Hayley Williams provides us with an updated take on “Rainbow Connection” (cheesy sappiness not included). The Fray gives us a curious rendition of “Mahna Mahna.“ Other very cool contributions come from Airborne Toxic Event, My Morning Jacket, Evanescence’s Amy Lee, Atreyu’s Brandon Sellar, Good Charlotte’s Billy Martin and a great, catchy little tune by Alkaline Trio. Whether you’re a Muppets eccentric or not, the Muppets Green Album is definitely a nice little augmentation to the masses.
