FROM THE NEWS NEST: Mission Creek Music + Arts Festival Needs Your Help!

August 22. 2011 | By Mayumi Okamoto

Since 1996, Mission Creek Music + Arts Festival has been going strong in the Bay Area featuring local artists in a wide array of creative mediums including music, film, dance, and visual art. Now in its fifteenth year, the not-for-profit festival returns to San Francisco and Oakland for a week-long stint beginning September 7th. MCMAF not only provides a platform featuring local innovative creators, but it is also dedicated to fostering a sense of community among Bay Area artists. One of the highlights of the festival is the free all-day concert event at McLaren Park which will take place this year on Saturday, September 10th. In order for the McLaren Park event to come to fruition, MCMAF needs your help.

A fundraising campaign has been kickstarted on Kickstarter.org to raise the necessary funds so the show can indeed go on. The goal of the campaign is to raise $3,000 by August 25th. All money donated to the campaign will go towards the cost of putting on the show in the park. In exchange for your Kickstarter.org donation, MCMAF is offering various thank you gifts ranging from limited edition posters to the opportunity to curate a show at next year’s festival.

Now here’s where you come in. Simply visit the campaign’s website and donate whatever amount your heart desires. Really, any amount helps. Even if you can’t monetarily contribute, help MCMAF spread the word by posting this on your blogs and Facebook pages and by Tweeting this news from our nest to your thousands of followers. We have until August 25th to help our friends at MCMAF bring great local artists to McLaren Park!
