FROM THE NEWS NEST: Wilco ditches major label and more.

Wilco (pictured) has cut ties with their label Nonesuch Records, and may be looking into releasing their next album on an independent label. The band has been signed with Nonesuch Records since 2002, when Nonesuch released Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot after the band’s then-label Reprise Records were concerned about the commercial appeal of the album.

We’ve got a bunch of folks announcing new albums! Deerhunter is hitting us with their fourth LP Halcyon Digest, which will drop Sept. 28. Meanwhile one of our favorite (guilty pleasures) pop singers Usher will be releasing his follow up to the hit album Raymond V. Raymond with Versus Aug. 24.

And to warm all of our cold little hearts, Paul McCartney surprised everyone at Radio City Music Hall Wednesday night for Ringo Starr‘s 70th birthday. As a part of the encore, McCartney took the stage after everyone had thought the show was over, running on stage singing “Birthday.” Beatles love!
