Malcolm McLaren (pictured), 64, one of punk’s leading men, passed away Thursday after a battle with lung cancer. McLaren managed acts like the Sex Pistols, Bow Wow Wow and the New York Dolls. Johnny Rotten, former frontman of the Sex Pistols, had only non-rotten things to say about McLaren: “For me Malc was always entertaining, and I hope you remember that. Above all else he was an entertainer and I will miss him, and so should you.”
The recently returned mom M.I.A. has been chatting up the press circuit, and has been discussing how she turned down the Twilight series. Her manager with Interscope told the film folks to “fuck off.” In the same interview with NME M.I.A. also goes on about how she is nothing like Lady Gaga, but we can’t help but want a catfight from the two, especially if we’re never going to get a collaboration.
For those of you kids who have been weeping into your pillow since Sleater-Kinney called it quits in ’06, dry your eyes: lead singer Corin Tucker is planning a solo album. She’s largely disappeared from rock ‘n’ roll to be a mom, but Tucker plans to release the yet unnamed new album on Kill Rock Stars in October.
