FROM THE NEWS NEST: Muse performs SXSW tomorrow and more
British band Muse (pictured) has announced that they’re joining in for the SXSW fun this Friday night at Stubb’s BBQ, with some of our favorite Canadians Metric opening. And before those of us that are trapped at our day jobs start moaning and groaning and sipping on the hate-orade, MySpace Music will stream the whole Muse set beginning Sunday!
Also, we’ve got more details on Lilith Fair 2010: the fine, fierce women (should we spell that womyn? Just kidding, Sarah McLachlan…) will be at a city near you with almost 40 cities confirmed. Tickets go on sale March 27 for a host of dates, and the fair is packed with 80 acts, though only 11 will perform each show and McLachlan will be the only performer to perform each gig. But we would die to see Loretta Lynn, the Gossip and the Go-Gos share a stage.
Singer and guitarist Alex Chilton, known for his work with the Box Tops and Big Star, as well as the being the inspiration for the Replacements‘ cult icon-revering song “Alex Chilton”, died suddenly of a heart attack Wednesday in New Orleans. Chilton was due to perform with his band Big Star at SXSW Saturday.
