FROM THE NEWS NEST: Listen to the Kooks cover Ace of Base and more.

October 06. 2010 | By Bernadette

British cuties The Kooks (pictured)— named for a Bowie song, how can I not love them? — have completely reinvented Ace of Base‘s ’90s classic “All That She Wants.” The track has a quirky tongue-in-cheek feel, lightening up on the super dance grooves in favor of a definite rock vibe. This two-minute plus pop song has been on repeat for the last half hour!

An admitted not-Weezer-fan in Seattle has launched a campaign to get the nerd rockers to break up. James Burns is attempting to raise $10 million and appeal to Weezer fans who are tired of the band’s new albums to get the band to stop recording, saying, “This is an abusive relationship, and it needs to stop now.”

Does anyone care about Van Halen anymore? Live Nation Ticketmaster chairman Irving Azoff certainly does, as he’s talking about the band hitting the road in 2011. He did this once before, promising a tour that was supposed to happen this year, but no dice. So we’ll see if the ’80s rockers will roll out their rather epic live shows next year.
