Dear god, Kanye West (pictured) knows how to work the media and keep up a super-human momentum that will always keep folks talking about him. The rapper has recently announced that until the end of the year he will be dropping one new song with a free MP3 download a week. We heart how West is such an innovative mainstream artist. (Free shit always equals innovative, obviously.)

Color us sad faced: the Swell Season is having one awful week. Or at least us fans are… first, the craziness of last week’s suicide at a local concert, and now the Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova have announced that they are disbanding — not because of the tragedy. According to Hansard: “I’ll go back to the Frames, and Mar will make her own record at some point. This band will eventually naturally end. But right now, all of us are just so grateful. Getting together and making music with Mar was a side thing for me, but it felt absolutely right.”

Don’t expect Of Montreal to take a break after their album False Priest drops Sept. 14: the band is already talking about releasing another EP. A new EP titled The Controller Sphere will tentatively be released next spring, and will feature music written at the same time as False Priest.
