Do stars get starstruck? Jack White (pictured) was on hand with a host of other performers as Paul McCartney was presented with the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize last month. White performed an acoustic cover of “Mother Nature’s Son,” which can be seen on Pitchfork.com, in front of an audience that included McCartney and President Barack Obama.
It hasn’t been a good year for Big Star fans. Big Star frontman Alex Chilton passed away in March, and now the band’s original bassist Andy Hummel died Monday at the age of 59 after a two-year battle with cancer.
R&B singer Rhea has left N.E.R.D. to pursue a solo career, which will be produced by Pharrell Williams, lead singer of N.E.R.D. Rhea, who has only been with the group since late 2009, will not be replaced by another female singer.
