FROM THE NEWS NEST: Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong headlines “American Idiot” and more.

September 27. 2010 | By Bernadette

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong (pictured) makes his Broadway debut Tuesday Sept. 8 as the lead character in American Idiot, the musical inspired by Green Day’s album of the same name (for those of you who have been under a rock, obviously). Armstrong will be stepping into Tony Vincent’s shoes while the actor is on a two-week vacation. Good luck, Billy Joe!

Wyclef Jean, formerly an aspirant for the presidency of his native country Haiti, has recently checked into an undisclosed hospital for exhaustion and stress. The musician cited that the past eight weeks contributed to his hospitalization. Over the past eight weeks Jean had his bid rejected due to not being able to meet certain requirements.

This is pretty hot! John Legend and the Roots covered Arcade Fire‘s famous song “Wake Up!” last week when they played NYC’s terminal 5. Check out the YouTube video for a pretty soulful rendition of the indie hit.
