FROM THE NEWS NEST: Florence + the Machine blow minds on SNL and more.

Sometimes we just want to share something utterly delicious and delightful with you: like Florence & the Machine‘s turn as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live this weekend. Florence Welch (pictured) blew the lid off of 30 Rock, performing “Dog Days Are Over” and “You’ve Got the Love.” Good god, is this woman’s voice supersonic.

We’ve got tour dates for the most ridiculously awesome tour of 2011, and they will be coming through the Bay Area! New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys will be headed out on tour together in early June and will be performing in San Jose July 2. Tickets go on sale Dec. 11.

Just about every one of us would like to collaborate with Thom Yorke, and it looks like musical talent is not required to be a part of his next project. Yorke is raising awareness of climate change through 350 Earth by creating a huge “King Cnut type image” installation with 2,000 people in Brighton, England Nov. 27.
