FROM THE NEWS NEST: Chris Brown in tears at BET Awards and more.

June 28. 2010 | By Bernadette

Chris Brown (pictured) has had a rough couple of years. But it was definitely nice to put all of that aside and see him tribute one of the most talented entertainers of all time: Michael Jackson. Brown performed a montage of Jackson hits in memory of the anniversary of the pop king’s death at the BET Awards, complete with looks from different eras as well as spot on dancing. Especially moving (us to ask what the f*ck?!) was when the audience sang the lyrics to “Man in the Mirror” since Brown was too choked up to continue.

Everyone seemed a lot more excited about the relaunch of Lilith Fair, or Lilith, a few months ago, touting the event as one of the highlights of the summer concert season. Now dates are being canceled without much fanfare, due to poor ticket sales, including all of Norah Jones‘ performance dates, according to her management.

More performers are joining Rage Against the Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha in his Sound Strike, a protest against Arizona’s immigration law that has musicians not perform in the state until the law is repealed. Nine Inch Nails, My Morning Jacket and many more have signed up with the Sound Strike, which released a list of musicians on their website today.
