FROM THE NEWS NEST: Brandon Flowers does it solo and more.
It looks like Mr. Brightside is striking out on his own. Brandon Flowers (pictured), lead singer of The Killers, will be recording as a solo performer, he announced on The Killers’ website. Though denying that he had any interest in going solo in December, Flowers will soon be releasing his debut album Flamingos. No worries Killers fans: the band has also stated that “there are no plans for an indefinite hiatus.”
Yesterday we posted that the Flaming Lips‘ Steven Drozd had been hospitalized, and though we don’t really have much more to add about Drozd’s condition, he did add to the cryptic fire. Drozd tweeted today to fans: “Thank you, everyone, for your concern. I had to do this and I’m getting it together.”
Someone ship me to Europe for the 2010 Montreux Jazz Festival. I’m not even kidding! Check out this line-up: glam gods Roxy Music, Massive Attack, Billy Idol and Phil Collins? Pure hotness. Also featured at the festival, which takes place July 2 through 17, are jazz bands. Go figure.
