FROM THE NEWS NEST: Ben Folds collaborating with ‘High Fidelity’ author and more.
Author Nick Hornby knows music. He wrote one of our many bibles — High Fidelity — and now musician Ben Folds (pictured) will be collaborating with Hornby, adding music to the author’s lyrics. The album Lonely Avenue, comprised of “12 musical short stories” and conceptualized over dinner conversation between Hornby and Fold, will be released Sept. 28.
There seems to be trouble on the Maxwell, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott tour. Maxwell has postponed the second leg of his tour to 2011, which has been explained with “scheduling conflicts.” Other theories are popping up on the blogosphere: apparently Maxwell isn’t getting along with Badu or Scott.
We are total suckers for Glee, which we may have mentioned before. According to director Ryan Murphy, the show has only been turned down twice when they have approached musicians for access to their catalog: once by Bryan Adams, and also by Coldplay. Well, Coldplay has changed their minds! They called Murphy last week and said “We’re sorry, you can have our catalog.”
