FROM THE NEWS NEST: SF Clubs fight back and more
For some time San Francisco clubs have been struggling with the ABC (Department of Alcoholic Beverage Club) cracking down on everything from blocking sidewalks to infusions and bitters, besides the usual underage patron complaints. In the ongoing saga, some promoters and club employees are alleging that they are victims of police harassment, which SF Weekly has documented in a lengthy expose.
Ryan Adams (pictured) has ended his yearlong hiatus with the release next week of Orion, a heavy metal album. That sentence was definitely typed correctly, kids. Adams posted a poll to his Facebook as a joke to see if any of his fans would be interested in purchasing the album, thinking that he’d get a minimal response. Almost 70,000 people said they would. So much for retirement.
Finally, Iggy Pop and the Stooges have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! And true to form, Pop was topless for the induction, but no broken glass was in sight. Pop â€” keeping it classy. Billie Joe Armstrong of Greenday was on hand to do the honors, and joined the Stooges and Eddie Vedder on stage for what was described as a “raucous” version of “I Wanna Be Your Dog”.
