FROM ACROSS THE POND: Bombay Bicycle Club

March 16. 2011 | By Amanda Penlington

The talent of Bombay Bicycle Club belies their years. With two albums and a number of singles, tours, and festival appearances under their belts all by the age of 20, these Londoners could be regarded as fantastic over-achievers. Their folk-inspired indie sound combines mandolins with electric guitars alongside world music-infused rhythms. Singer Jack Steadman delivers heartfelt and sophisticated lyrics about the complexities of life as a young city dweller. Their debut album I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose was an electric affair; for their follow-up, Flaws, they concentrated on an acoustic approach, which saw them reach no. 8 in the UK Album Chart. This is one club worth joining.
