COUNTDOWN: 5 Days to Outside Lands – Wallpaper.

We here at The Owl Mag have been following the always-hustling Oaklander, Ricky Reed, and his gold-plated microphone persona of Wallpaper. since nearly its inception (check out our throwback review from 2008 here). We even partied alongside him at raging Bay Area house parties as he released 2009’s Doodoo Face and danced along so hard to this Owl’s personal favorites “I Got Soul, I’m So Wasted” and “ddd.” Then we continued to track his progress as he dropped 2011’s #STUPiDFACEDD to insane rave reviews. He finally achieved commercial success when the album-titled track snatched spots on MTV, Jimmy Kimmel, features in Entertainment Weekly, a highlight in the movie Chronicle, and even a coveted slot at Coachella 2012. Reed’s special brand of swagger meets electro dance party is unlike anything else — and is a guaranteed good time. Don’t underestimate this show, Wallpaper. brings the noise live and will be sure to have the entirety of the Twin Peaks stage a-shakin’ at 2:15pm on Friday, 8/10.
