COUNTDOWN: 15 Days to Outside Lands – Yellow Ostrich

Released in 2011, Yellow Ostrich’s, The Mistress, was easily one of the most creative and addictive albums of the year. Alex Schaaf’s solo project has since evolved into a three-piece outfit featuring drummer Michael Tapper and multi-instrumentalist (an apparent must-have for bands this decade) Jon Natchez. Strange Land, released this past March on Barusk, is a cramped nightclub gig with the soul of a bedroom recording. Yellow Ostrich’s slow-burn thrashers and lighter-app-wavers get to inhale some summer air at Outside Lands on Saturday, August 11. Hopefully Schaaf dusts off the old loop pedal as well.
