FROM THE NEWS NEST: Coachella 2013 Announcement? Buy Tickets.

Last week Coachella popped up with an announcement on Facebook, Twitter, and through email. The simple teaser was “Wait til next Monday, cause we’ve got an announcement.” And drumroll please, their announcement is –

Coachella 2013 will go on ADVANCE SALE starting THIS Thursday, May 17th @ 10:00 am PDT thru Thursday, May 24th at 10:00 pm PDT. This will be the only time that passes can be purchased using the payment plan.

COACHELLA

Does anyone else notice how their are no dates even mentioned in the e-mail? Have no fear, as we called our sources over at GoldenVoice (actually we just went to the website) and found out the festival dates will be April 12-14th AND April 19-21st.

If you’ve always said “I WANT TO GO TO COACHELLA!” Now is your time. You can put 20% of the purchase price down on the festival and pay off the tickets over 7 more months. Think layaway, but for a huge concert. There are some differences between this years festival and previous years. For the first time since we can remember there has been a significant price increase. This year the total price will be $349 for the 3 day festival, up from the $250 we’re used to paying.

Last year the layaway plan was $269 total with 10% down. This year, it’s $349 with 20% down. And once the initial money is put down for the tickets, Goldenvoice just bills you monthly.

So, why the huge price increase for those of us that actually buy into the festival early? Has Coachella gotten too big for its britches? What’s your take on the whole thing, will you buy tickets?
