Ben Folds, Amanda Palmer, Damian Kulash and Neil Gaiman?

April 07. 2011 | By Dustin Shey

Soon our government could stop working, but that’s not stopping artistry anywhere. In an effort to show how unnecessary the current record label industry is, do it yourself musicians are taking a single day to record an album, then release it 10 hours later. Ummm…what? Here’s what we know:

“Ben Folds, Damian Kulash (OK Go), Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls, solo), and author Neil Gaiman will write and record eight songs in eight hours (4 p.m. to midnight) at Berklee College of Music on April 26th”

In another bold move, they’re live broadcasting the damn thing. Watch a record being made between some incredible acts, then get the music once you wake up the next day to consume forever. Way to go arts.

Check out this previous Ben Folds collaboration with writer Nick Hornby and Pomplamoose.
