LIVE REVIEW: The Limousines @ Cinespace 10-12

Once a week in Los Angeles clubbers hit Cinespace for a night of dancing at Dim Mak Tuesdays. The venue on Hollywood Blvd. features a mix of up and coming DJs and electronic artists playing their raw beats for LA party-goers. Last night, the pride and joy of San Francisco, The Limousines, performed to a straight-up packed house of young-sweaty bodies craving to be moved by the twists and turns of beat-master, Giovanni Giusti and sexy frontman, Eric Victorino.

With the support of an additional drummer, the duo sizzled the Cinespace stage by performing nearly their entire debut album, Get Sharp (Orchard City Books and Noise) which was released this summer and what many fans are saying is the best eletropop record of 2010. Clothed in a black canvas jacket teased with 80’s mini buttons and black fingerless gloves frontman Victorino moved about the stage igniting the audience into a mesmerized frenzy with hit “Very Busy People” as well as “Wildfires” and finally ending the night with “Internet Killed The Video Star.”

There almost seemed to be a special sense of “we’ve made it” in the air from The Limousines as I watched the enthusiasm and energy quadruple not only on stage but also in the audience. The quality of sound was sheer perfection for not only Victorino’s vocals but also Giusti’s electronic arrangements. Even the minimal fog, scattered lazers and shades of green and blue lighting perfectly complimented the band’s synthesizers, hooks, and feel-good-catchy beats.
