HEAR THIS: Daedelus

June 30. 2011 | By Kirk Reed

While the world of electronic music has become congested with mediocrity, Los Angeles based producer Alfred Darlington aka Daedelus never creates anything less than experimental perfection. His meticulous production intertwines soulful vocal samples with gorgeous yet moody beats to design a truly unique sound ideal for introspective listening.

Always pushing the limits of electronic music, Daedelus constantly keeps listeners guessing and critics hopelessly trying to categorize his artistry. After 10 years of recording, his catalog is deep and diverse, as no two Daedelus songs sound alike. Fellow Los Angeles producer Flying Lotus and the rest of the Brainfeeder crew have adopted Daedelus to build a team of mad scientists dedicated to shattering traditional conventions of electronic music.

With an obsession over Victorian era fashion complemented by mammoth sideburns, Daedelus is hard to miss. His 2011 release, Bespoke, is an electronic masterpiece that should not be overlooked.
