LIVE REVIEW: Terrible Things @ Highline Ballroom 6/3/10
Terrible Things is the collaboration between Fred Mascherino (Breaking Pangaea, Taking Back Sunday) and Andy Jackson (Hot Rod Circuit). We caught these guys when they were just starting out and going under the name Initials; they now have former Coheed and Cambria drummer Josh Eppard on board and a debut album coming out on Universal Motown in August. They’ve clearly grown more comfortable and confident as a band, and their recent set at NYC’s Highline Ballroom was marked by high energy and professionalism. Their straightforward pop-rock songs feature simple but solid choruses. It still remains to be seen whether their album will prove to have the emotional heft of Fred’s past work or the rock and roll fire of Andy’s, but they clearly work well together and are having a great time starting over with a new band.
