Celebrating the release of their latest album Offerings, Portland based Typhoon hit the road this year for the first time in a few years and made a stop in San Francisco Tuesday night at the Independent.
Warming up the crowd Matt Dorian played some peaceful and intimate songs which were very welcoming to the ears.
Following Mr Dorain, Mimicking Birds had us entranced with their Radiohead-esque collection of songs. It was new yet also very familiar at the same time.
When the moment we had been waiting for arrived, we were met with a warm thunderous welcome in the form of “Common Sentiments”, one of our favorite tracks off of Typhoon’s 2013 album White Lighter. Although there were a few less band members that the last time we had seen their performance, there was still no stopping the sheer power and emotion that belted from the stage in the carefully orchestrated arrangement Kyle Morton has crafted over the years.
