Criminal Hygiene + Death Hymn Number 9 + Chad & The Meatbodies + The Flytraps @ The Echo, LA 1/13/14
Criminal Hygiene picked up the pace for the second week of their residency at the Echo as the trio brought along grittier acts The Flytraps, Chad & The Meatbodies, and Death Hymn Number 9.
The three ladies of The Flytraps were a force to be reckoned with from the first note, shredding through an early set.
With a name like Chad & The Meatbodies, it’s difficult to imagine what the music would sound like. Turns out, they put forth a wave of nearly perfect dark psychedelia with just enough thrust to keep you bobbing around.
Another hard act to follow, Death Hymn Number 9 wasted no time shaking it up. Frontman Paul”e”wog immediately jumped into the crowd while drummer Sleazy P, guitarist Rack “Em Frack “Em, and bassist Lord Misteriosos thrashed on stage.
The second week of a residency can be a bit of a hurdle, but Criminal Hygiene certainly lost no momentum after week one. Halfway through, there’s still a ton of great acts on the bill. Don’t miss bands like Olin & The Moon, Dante Elephante, White Lung, and more at The Echo for the two remaining Mondays in January (all free!).
