FREE TICKETS: The Owl Mag Presents Cursive @ Noise Pop Festival – GAMH, SF 2/22/12

February 10. 2012 | By Mayumi Okamoto

It’s been three years since Omaha’s Cursive have put out a new record. Make that a lonnnng three years for devoted Cursive fans. But the wait will soon be over as the band’s seventh studio album, I Am Gemini, is set to be released on February 21, 2012 on Saddle Creek Records. Now, I know what you’re thinking and I know exactly how the following conversation is going to play out:

You: “Did you say Cursive‘s new album drops on Tuesday, February 21st?”
Me: “Why, yes. Yes, I did.”
You: “Gee, it would sure be great to see the guys while they are touring for this album. I really wish I could go see them in San Francisco.”
Me: “Well my friend, aren’t you in luck? Cursive will be playing at this year’s 20th Anniversary Noise Pop Festival in San Francisco the day after I Am Gemini is released! AND better yet, The Owl Mag is presenting it and we want you to be there on us!”

That’s right. We are joining with our friends at Noise Pop to present the show and give away a free pair of tickets to see Cursive on Wednesday, February 22nd at Great American Music Hall. Ume, Virgin Islands, and Taxes will provide some amazing opening support. We are fully expecting this show to bring audiences one of the best performances on the Noise Pop schedule this year. I Am Gemini is already receiving buzz due to the highly conceptualized nature of the album – a Cain and Abel-esque story of good and evil that unfolds chronologically as the album progresses from beginning to end. With almost fifteen years of songs and albums to choose from, what song are you just dying for the band to play at the show? Leave us a comment with the name of the song and why you hope it makes the setlist for your chance to be at the show during the Noise Pop Festival.

Contest ends 2/17/12.
