I have no idea what the Oregon Trail has to do with this conversation, but I thought I’d throw it in because the six-piece rootsy-pop and indie folk of Blind Pilot is Israel Nebeker (vocals, guitar), Ryan Dobrowski (drums), Luke Ydstie (upright bass, backing vocals), Kati Claborn (banjo, dulcimer, backing vocals), Ian Krist (vibraphones) and Dave Jorgensen (keyboards, trumpet), and they all hail from Portland. See what I did there?
The independent and creative music spirit of the Pacific Northwest is invading Los Angeles because Blind Pilot and fellow Oregonians Point Juncture, WA will be at the El Rey on 11/18/11 and we want you to be there. Leave a comment telling us something about the Oregon Trail and pair of tickets to the show could be yours. Too easy.
Contest ends November 17th. For more information, visit the Goldenvoice event page HERE.

The Oregon Trail was a route that led to the expansion of the US to the West Coast, we probably wouldn't be where we are today if it wasn't for it.
Cigars got their nickname of "stogies" from the Conestoga wagon wagons who smoked cigars or "stogies" as they drove the trail. It's true!
I always looked forward to playing Oregon Trail in 2nd grade on computer lab day. It was the most fun game to me even though most of the time my pioneers died of dysentery.
