SUMMER IN SEATTLE

August 16. 2017 | By Ephriam Nagler

There’s still another month left until summer officially comes to an end, but our resident Tour Diaries scribe and musical nomad, Ephriam Nagler, shares three of his all-time favorite performances from his Summer in Seattle.

First up, one of the best bands out of Portland, Oregon, The Thermals. They played Rocks the Docks at Waterfront Park, a generously free concert hosted by KEXP over the first weekend of July. It was loud and distorted and perfect as all hell. It was a treat seeing these lovely people perform once again.

Local Seattle legends Helms Alee were in the middle of a national tour this summer. I got to catch up with them at Neumos in Capitol Hill. Heavy as all fuck, Ben Verellen designs and builds his own massive guitar amps under Verellen Amplifiers. If you play guitar, then you need/have to buy one.

Finally, my favorite punk band of Seattle, Mommy Long Legs. I got to see many amazing artists at Capitol Hill Block Party, but none of the them made me as happy as Mommy Long Legs. I was grinning like a fucking idiot and laughing at how much I love their music. They were kind enough to let me play organ on their latest EP release, Rock Product. Buy it and play “Diva Night” nice and loud every day until forever.
