Anchored by an impeccably tight horn section, Oakland’s Trace Repeat brings back the funk in a big way. We in The Nest are proud to premier the second single “Morning Love” from their upcoming debut LP The Oaktown Sound. Following a stylistic lineage that runs from Motown and Stax/Volt through the Daptone Records family, the Bay Area collective puts their own inimitable stamp on the proceedings, hung heavily on the vocal back-and-forth between singers Khrizia Kamille, Wesley Woo, and Zach Hing.

The Oaktown Sound is the product of a successful Indie Go-Go campaign that focused on their Asian roots and distills the energy of their epic live sets. While it’s a perfect stand-alone single, the beauty of the down-tempo “Morning Love” is how it also acts as a breather before the next soul explosion in the context of the whole LP. Be ready for an extra special set when Trace Repeat host their release party at the Cornerstone, Berkeley on 9/21, with The Fell Swoop and Redwood Skyline. Tickets for the show can be purchased in advance by following this link here.

Be sure to check out the Trace Repeat via Facebook and YouTube.
