Modest Mouse release Heath Ledger-directed vid

August 04. 2009 | By Jason Jurgens

Modest Mouse has released the music video for “King Rat,” a song that Heath Ledger was working on directing when he died last year.

The video, which was finished by Ledger’s production company The Masses, is a “stance against the illegal commercial whale hunts taking place of the coast of Australia,” according to their press release. Ledger, who was a friend of lead singer Isaac Brock and the rest of Modest Mouse, conceptualized a video where the whales take over in a Dr. Seuss-esque kind of way.

Proceeds from the download of the video on iTunes in August will go towards the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, a non-profit marine wildlife conservation organization.
