HIGH SCHOOL REUNION: Trina Starke (1984-1988)

September 15. 2011 | By Trina Starke

Aside from my husband I do believe I just might be the oldest Owl in the nest. Ridiculous really as I feel (and not ashamed to admit, act) the same age as my fine feathered friends that are upwards of 20 years my junior. It’s all good though, 40 is the new 30, or so they say.

My high school years date back to the music age of big-hair bands, original synth-pop, and power balads. The 1980s brought us MTV and Top Gun, Duran Duran and The Facts of Life. Every girl wanted to be Jennifer Grey and my God we loved our strings of beads. Below are songs that were played at distorted decibel levels in my yellow '70 VW Bug. These tracks kept the beat as I cruised up and down Main St. waving at the boy that lived in the Hudson St. house with every pass because he was a total babe.

Outfield

Poison – My first concert ever!

Madonna – Still the best Madonna track ever!

Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes

Van Halen

Tiffany – I learned how to drive a stick-shift while listening to this song!

Duran Duran – Roger Taylor, I still love you!

Okay cheeky! Phew, that was a little embarrassing but still fun nonetheless. We all come from somewhere, right? Now tell us yours, what were your favorite tracks in high school?
