Costumes may be a part of everyday apparel for those in Tinseltown but for one weekend out of the year all of Southern California goes a little balls-to-the-wall batshit crazy. From Los Angeles to San Diego, there will be shiz going down and we’ve got the ghoulish goods to help you make your plans this Halloween weekend. (post by Vanessa Anton and Trina Lynn)

KCRW – Masquerade Ball

If you’re not down with sporting a hangover on Monday then maybe you should vamp yourself out Saturday night at Park Plaza in Downtown LA for KCRW’s second annual Masquerade Ball. There will be five themed rooms (including a 1930s jazz room and a haunted bridal suite), four stages, 14 KCRW DJs (Jason Bently, Henry Rollins, et. al.) spinning music all night long as well as live sets by The Duke Spirit, Gram Rabbit, and Cut Chemist. This haunt will set you back almost a hundie ($75 or $85 per ticket) but it helps to fund public radio so dress yo ass up and support!

HARD Haunted Mansion at Shrine Expo Hall

This two-day spookaganza is especially for you 18+ BOOming types. It will feature over 20 electro-artists including 80’s duo UNDERWORLD and Bloody Beetroots. Tickets range between $75 – $130 for a two-day pass.

Haunted Halloween at The Music Box

If ska is what you’re looking for then Richard Blade’s Haunted Halloween at The Music Box is where to ghoul. This 18+ event presented by KAOS Records will be held on Halloween night from 7:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. and tickets are $25.00. Bands performing include The English Beat and The Flashbax and hellz yes there will be cash prizes for a Midnight Costume Contest so bust out your JWoww fake BOObies to win the cabbage, kids.

Zombiewalk Mini-Walk & After Party at the Casbah

For you San Diego peeps meet at the Casbah at 8:00 p.m. to walk with your fellow ghoulish goblins through San Diego’s Little Italy. Under 21 ghouls are welcome here. After that the spooky fest is strictly 21+ so tuck the kiddies in bed with a lollipop and get ready to get your freak on. Doors open at 8:30 for the after party featuring Hyena, Shark Attack & DJs Gabe Vega, Adam Salter and Erica Jessup. There will be scary surprises all night long as well as a costume contest with cash and prizes. Twenty bones gets you in!

Halloween at the Belly Up

The Belly Up in Solana Beach makes it a double dose of creepy this Halloween with two nights of freaky festivities. Put on your spooky costume and get in your way-back machine for a ghoulish time 80’s style. On Saturday night entertainment includes DJ sets by 80’s Heat and Cover Me Badd’s Blasphemous Guitars. Sunday night DJ sets will include 80’s Heat and Freeze Frame. Dare to dominate the costume contest on either night and win cash prizes for first, second, or third place! Additional prizes will be given as well! Tickets are $25.00 and doors are at 8:00 p.m. for both nights.

Halloween Boo’s Cruise w/ San Diego’s 91x and Hornblower Cruises and Events

How ‘bout a haunting sail along the harbor of San Diego to kick off the frightful fun? There’s live music by Dynamite Wells and Nervous Wreckords in the main cabin along with a DJ on the upper deck. The harrowingly good time will take place on Friday from 8:30 p.m. -11:00 pm. Tickets are only $25.

Zombie Prom at the Casbah

Missed your Senior Prom? Or wish to return to commemorate in zombie style as it should have been? Join the ghouls and guys at the Casbah on Friday for live performances by The Lords of the New Removed Church with Stiv Shuffler and The Creepy Creeps. There will also be spooky movies and art. Tickets are $10 in advance or $14 day of.
