Winterhead

Post-punk at its best, New Cassettes latest release Winterhead is sure to keep you moving around. Crashes, breakdowns, and repeated lyrics (“she don’t believe in romance”) make this album a stunner for your ears to find their way through.

“Bite Your Lip” is one of our favorites. A bit more of a fun dance track, the song is fast and furious. We can’t stop bopping our heads along as the guitar and drums force us to every step of the way. Lyrics like “words don’t jump from page to page this time” are thinkers but you don’t even notice until you stop to think about it all. “Silent Guns” starts out a bit like the title: quick, pulsing, and over before you know it. It sounds a little bit like The Bravery mixed with Two Door Cinema Club, but even if that isn’t your scene, don’t let it get to you. The album is super enjoyable no matter what your expectations are. “The Waxx” is the softest song on the album and sounds like it belongs on a ’90s hard rock radio station. Winterhead actually shows a great deal of diversity from the band that some of their earlier releases didn’t have.

Don’t let this album miss your radar – you’ve got to hear how much fun this one is!
